Oh hey there. It’s been EXTREMELY quiet around here. As in, I haven’t blogged since December! Honestly, it was a much needed break. But, there is nothing like a birth to bring me out of blog-retirement! People often ask me what my favorite thing to photograph is and my answer doesn’t change… births + weddings. Don’t get me wrong, families, seniors, and engagements are so much fun too but there is something about capturing these life-changing, high-stakes, unable to redo moments that just makes me smile from ear to ear with joy.
John + Emma have been waiting for this little miracle baby for 3.5 years. Needless to say, there was not a dry eye in the room (including mine).
Casey + Shannon are absolutely adorable. They were worried they would look awkward in their photos (aren’t we all?) but look how CUUUUTTTEEEE they are! I also realized how much I say the word, “cute” during engagement sessions. It’s a lot but it’s always true. I love love, so I’m thinking I picked the right profession. I can’t wait to capture your wedding next year, you two!
Miss Gwen is turning one! How is that remotely possible? This sweet tiny babe that I took photos of in the hospital hours after she was born is almost one? This last year has just flown by. You know, I never understood the saying, “The days are long but the years are short” until I became a mother. Cherish these sweet moments, friends. Before you know it you’re kids will be in school and you’ll be wondering where your babies went.
Kylie’s mom paid me the biggest compliment by asking me to photographer her daughter’s senior photos. You see, Tara is also a photographer and totally could have done them herself. Instead, she trusted me and enjoyed the day! It means the world to me when others this business ask me to capture their memories.
Now on to Kylie…Hello BEAUTIFUL!! Not only is she gorgeous but she’s so sweet and totally down for anything. She never batted an eye at the crazy things I asked her to do or even at the fact that it was misting/raining through our whole session. To be 18 again and look this fabulous amidst the rain. You two were the best! Thanks for being such troopers.
Parent’s with boys know how photo sessions go. I mean, just last week we took our family photos and it started with bribery and threats. They just don’t get on board. However, I like to think I have tons of fun with my family session and, even when parents are worried about their kiddo cooperating we end up with beautiful, fun, and REAL family photos. The Alvis family was no exception. These three boys were spunky and so silly and we ended up with perfectly imperfect photos (and a few perfect ones too!).
I would be totally offended if you tried to argue with me about the fact that these three are the most gorgeous family ever. I mean HOLY COW, they look like they belong in a GAP ad. Also, they happen to be so stinking sweet and genuinely fun to hang out with.
Libby and her parents run The Marmalade Lily, a GORGOEUS wedding + event venue just outside of Cincinnati. It also has tons of wildflowers and they host U-cut events! Needless to say I was completely stoked on the idea of shooting their family session there and it turned out perfect! (Shameless plug… if you are getting married at Marmalade Lily I totally want to photograph your wedding!)
Thank you for sending me home with some beautiful, fresh blooms. Libby, you’re the sweetest!
Madisen was literally such a CHAMP on Archer’s birth day. First of all, she was more than a week overdue. And THEN she pushed for 3 hours. Oh my goodness, she was tired but such a strong human. Meanwhile, can you just see the love and support pouring out of Matthew? These two were amazing! Thank you for trusting me to be a part of one of the best days of your lives.
Hello, sweet girl. We’ve been waiting (what seems like) FOREVER to meet you. I saw no photos of Rosie before I arrived at Scott + Erika’s to take her newborn photos and I was just so smitten. You see, I love ALLLLLL the babies but especially ones with double chins and rolls for arms. Man, oh man, was Rosie so SO SO stinking beautiful! It’s been 14 months since I had the privilege of photographing Scott + Erika’s wedding and now this perfect little girl joins their family! I love you three so much, Congratulations!
These two parents have great taste is kid’s names. It’s so funny, all four of the names they chose for their boys (Graham Henry + Max James) are in my family! Their Max is a Maxwell and mine is a Maximus, but it still counts. I’ve been photographing them since Graham was 6 months old & I absolutely love him. He’s so funny, and spunky, and wild! I can’t wait to see if Max will have a similar personality or be more laid back. Thanks for inviting me into your home, it was so great to see you all again!
